netflix tweet me a reminder
Tweet yourself a reminder to watch the premiere of the upcoming Netflix original series "Marco Polo." Netflix/Phil Bray

TV lovers, rejoice! Never again will you miss the premiere of a show on Netflix, thanks to a collaboration between the on-demand streaming provider and Twitter. According to a report by The Next Web, Netflix and the social media platform have teamed up to remind you, via the click of a button, of the streaming dates of your favorite series or most anticipated new ones. All you have to do is tweet yourself the reminder.

So throw away that planner and take that silly piece of string off your finger because forgetfulness is a thing of the past with this new feature.

The campaign for the new service was first noticed when an advertisement for the upcoming Netflix drama “Marco Polo” posted a tweet.

“The Khan requests your presence in the court. All episodes of #MarcoPolo arrive on Netflix Dec. 12,” the post read. A photo accompanied the tweet along with a “Tweet Me a Reminder” box, which when pushed cultivated a precomposed tweet that read: “On 12/12, I will face the great Kublai Khan. Join my mission: @MarcoPoloMP premiere #NetflixReminder http://nflx.it/reminder.”

Netflix explained to The Next Web what happens when a user publishes the tweet above.

“The reminder will come in as an @Reply from the @MarcoPoloMP Twitter account, directed at each user who has opted in, as soon as the episodes are available at 12:01 a.m. Pacific time on Dec. 12, and will include a custom video message from the cast,” the Netflix statement said. And if there’s one thing we know to be true, it’s that no one ignores their Twitter app when a little red number appears.
