Netflix dropped the teaser for "Troll," a highly anticipated Norwegian movie that features a giant monster who awakens for the first time after a thousand years.

The short teaser starts with a glimpse of mountains and in the background, as a voiceover says, "Made of earth and stones. A snowclad heart and icy bones. From darkness they rose. In sunlight they froze."

A bunch of people standing in the middle of the mountains witnesses the giant monster waking up and trying to catch them with his massive human-like hands. The teaser was released Tuesday on YouTube.

Fans shared their reactions in the comments section.

"I'm Norwegian and grew up with tales of these trolls, we believed them when we were young," a fan wrote. "I'm so excited for this and that my country's fairy tales becomes proper movies." Another fan commented, "Netflix seems to have a lot of interesting projects coming out soon."

"I love that the world is catching up technology-wise in terms of movies," a user added. "We now get to watch talent and quality entertainment virtually from everywhere."

According to Norse mythology, a "troll" is said to be a monster with magical powers. As far as the movie is concerned, it is helmed by Norwegian director Roar Uthaug, who is responsible for making movies like "Tomb Raider" and "Escape."

"Troll" tells a story of a gigantic monster who has been trapped under mountains of Norway for a thousand years. The monster gets released from the trap and he starts the destroy everything that comes his way.

The massive creature approaches the capital of Norway and how the people of the city stop him unfolds the story further. The movie is currently under post-production and it is expected to release later this year. This action-adventure fantasy movie was penned by writer Espen Aukan.

The flick stars Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, Gard B. Eidsvold, Pål Richard Lunderby, Pål Anders Nordvi, Eric Vorenholt and Hugo Mikal Skår.

Apart from "Troll," Netflix is all set to release movies like "The Gray Man" and "The School for Good and Evil" this year.
