Fans of NBC’s hospital drama “New Amsterdam” will have to wait until 2020 to watch episode 10.

On Nov. 11, NBC aired Season 2, Episode 9 called “The Island” as their fall finale. In “The Island,” the doctors visited Rikers Island to help the women inmates get better treatment. They encountered an inmate labeled as crazy, but it turned out she had a brain tumor. We learned that Max was in remission from his cancer, but the episode ended with Dr. Helen Sharpe getting her titled stripped.

What can we expect for the return? Will Dr. Sharpe be allowed to practice medicine? Will the inmates kill someone at the hospital? Are Dr. Floyd Reynolds and Evie going to get married?

When TV Line asked writer David Schulner about the future of Reynolds and Evie, he responded with, “A huge future! Massive future, definite huge future. Big future. We want a wedding. We want it to happen. I hope they get it.”

Season 2, Episode 9 brought in 5.51 million viewers, making it the most viewed episode since the season premiere, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

At the time of this writing, there is no news on whether there will be a third season of “New Amsterdam.” But, there is hope. TV Series Finale reports that “considering that the series follows NBC’s biggest shows ['This Is Us'], the ratings should be better. However, I think they are still good enough to nab 'New Amsterdam' a third season renew.”

"New Amsterdam" Season 2 will return to NBC on Jan. 14. at 10 p.m. EST.
