The timing of Netflix’s new docuseries release has people scratching their heads.

The six-part series, titled “Pandemic: How to Prevent An Outbreak,” follows the “heroes on the front lines of the battle” in the fight against the spread of influenza and other contagious deadly diseases. This premise, some viewers have noted, seemingly suspiciously aligns with the current global fear surrounding the outbreak of coronavirus originating from Wuhan, China.

The Wuhan coronavirus began spreading in December 2019, according to NPR. At press time, there have been at least 25 coronavirus linked deaths and over 800 confirmed cases of the infection. The CDC reported two confirmed cases in the U.S. on Friday with 63 other “patients under investigation.”

“Pandemic: How to Prevent An Outbreak” came out on Tuesday just in time for #coronavirus to trend on Twitter. Users couldn’t help but point out the connection between these two occurrences, some even genuinely proposing that the event is one big PR stunt, as reported by The Mirror.

Amid the outbreak, conclusions were drawn after people pointed out the coincidence of, not only the trending hashtags but the fact that the world hasn’t witnessed the threat of a pandemic in over a hundred years. “...so we're due,” the official Netflix series synopsis reads. “But can we beat the clock and prevent widespread damage from one?"

“Pandemic: How to Prevent An Outbreak” is currently streaming on Netflix.
