A man was arrested after he was caught on camera spitting on a woman’s car following a road rage incident. The incident took place in the parking lot of a veterinary hospital in High Point, North Carolina on Monday, July 20.

In a Facebook post, the woman, identified as Emma Fitzwater, wrote that she was at Skeet Club Veterinary Hospital picking up medicine for her pet when the incident took place.

"In order to get into the parking lot, one has to make a U-Turn and then an immediate right turn. I admit that I timed it wrong. He was flying down Skeet Club Road in a cream-colored Ford SUV. It looked like a Ford Edge. He had to pump his breaks, and I did feel sorry. However, he did not need to slam on them, and it was not a situation that would have caused a wreck. Obviously, I infuriated him," she wrote in the Facebook post.

"After this incident, the vet and vet tech came out to check on me, as they witnessed the whole thing. I wanted to shed light on this abusive man who clearly has some inner demons he is battling. He terrified me, and I can’t seem to stop crying," she added.

Fitzwater also posted a video of the incident in which the man is seen walking toward her before abusing and spitting on the car. He then walks back to his vehicle and drives away. The video went viral on social media and the unidentified man was taken into custody Monday evening.

Calling the incident "very traumatizing," Fitzwater told NBC-affiliated television station WXII-TV, "We are in the middle of pandemic and we're talking three massive spits on my car in the direction of my face. It was just appalling to me."

"I'll be honest with you. Maybe he was having a horrible day, but nothing justifies his behavior. What he did was malicious. I don't want him to do this to another person. As a single mother, to be traumatized like that, and to be treated like that by a man is terrifying," she told the channel.

The charges levied against the man was not known.
