Growing up as the daughter of pop legend Michael Jackson, Paris Jackson says she was treated to a different life than many expect. While most children spend time hanging out with other kids, Paris revealed much of her time was spent with her father and her two brothers.

Speaking with Harper’s Bazaar, the daughter of the King of Pop said she was perfect in the eyes of her father and revealed why she was his favorite. “Growing up, I was treated as the favorite because I was the only girl. I was the princess,” she said.

Raised with her brothers Prince Jackson, 20, and Blanket Jackson, 15, Paris says the children were raised in an extremely protective home. “The only interaction I’d ever had were with family members or other adults.”

Due to their sheltered upbringing, Paris, 18, said she didn’t have any social skills and has had to force herself to learn. “For the past six years, I’ve been learning how to communicate,” she said.” Luckily for her, she says she has gotten “pretty good” at it.

Following her father’s death, the 18-year-old wanted to get herself back into the real world, becoming a model, but was surprised at what she found. “Once I got introduced into the real world, I was shocked. It blew me away,” she told the magazine. “Not just because it was sexist, but misogynist and racist and cruel. It was scary as hell. And it still is really scary.”

In a 2005 interview with Fox News, Michael said creating a world that seemed normal to his children was a priority to him. “I do my best,” he said, adding, “I want to be the best father in the world.”

While Paris has done plenty of interviews about her late father, she’s starting to get tired of it. “All anyone wants to talk about is my father, and it makes me sad,” said Jackson.
