Peanut Jr. was just a “Baby Nut” a few months ago, and now Twitter is furious at the idea that the minor is suddenly celebrating its 21st birthday.

On Tuesday, the snack food company released new ads showing the legal age peanut at a bar, ordering a beer.

“I’m officially 21, my friends! Before you ask, yes, I was just a baby. What can I say? It’s been a nutty year. Now someone get this peanut a beer! #MakeMyBirthdayNuts,” the tweet read.

However, fans of the snack are unhappy about the way the company has rapidly aged the Baby Nut after killing off the original Mr. Peanut earlier this year.

“I am, quite frankly, disgusted by Mr. peanut’s reincarnation. First, he shoves his ugly marketing scheme down our throat, and then he COMMITS A CRIME. WE KNOW YOU ARE NOT 21. WHO ARE YOU EVEN TRYING TO FOOL????” one person wrote.

Another person added, “I want to see a birth certificate, there’s no way that baby nut is now a 21-years old beer-drinking peanut, until then I will #BlockMrPeanut for lying to the American public and frankly engaging in dangerous behavior.”

One Twitter user even suggested that Peanut Jr. is to blame for all of the negative things that have taken place this year. “Ever notice how everything bad that’s happened in 2020 was immediately after they introduced Baby Nut #BlockMrPeanut,” the individual wrote.

Although some people are against the new image, those who support Peanut Jr’s milestone birthday may be interested in cashing in on some free prizes.

Planters announced the plan to hold a contest via the nut’s Twitter account. “To celebrate my 21st, I’m giving you the best birthday gift ever! In 10 words or less, tell me your dream birthday gift with #MakeMyBirthdayNuts and #Sweeps to be entered to win $2,100 or a Planters Prize Pack!” the tweet read.
