KEY POINTS

  • The Philadelphia 76ers are favorites to win when they host the Chicago Bulls
  • Joel Embiid may not see action for the 76ers in the game versus the Bulls
  • James Harden and Tobias Harris are expected to lead the Sixers on offense

The Philadelphia 76ers host the Chicago Bulls on Friday, January 6 at the Wells Fargo Center, looking to stretch their winning run to four in an Eastern Conference matchup.

The Sixers are coming off a 129-126 overtime win over the Indiana Pacers.

Before that, they also won over the New Orleans Pelicans (120-111) and the Oklahoma City Thunder (115-96).

Looking at the regular season series between the Sixers and the Bulls, Philly owns a 132-106 advantage over Chicago. That includes a 114-109 win in their first meeting last October 29.

However, the Sixers cannot afford to take the Bulls for granted especially with Joel Embiid questionable and listed on a day-to-day basis.

The Cameroonian big man did not play in Philly's win over the Pacers due to a foot injury.

Regardless, James Harden and Tobias Harris are expected to fill up the slack.

The 76ers are 18th in the league in scoring with 112.6 points per game, and they are also 28th in rebounding, collecting 40.5 rebounds per contest.

They are also second in the league in scoring defense, allowing the opposition an average of 108.7 points per game.

With or without Embiid, the Bulls will be in for a rough game. They are 14th in the league in scoring with 114.5 points per contest.

Chicago is also third in rebounding with 42.2 boards per outing, an advantage they could use against the Sixers.

But for Chicago to pull off a win, their defense needs to be better.

The Bulls are allowing opponents 115.5 points per game, something they cannot afford against a team that has players like Harden and Harris.

Lonzo Ball remains out, while Javonte Green and Alex Caruso are listed as day-to-day.

Chicago is coming off a win over the Brooklyn Nets and hopes to carry that momentum against Philly.

Before that, the Bulls lost two games against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Against the Nets, DeMar DeRozan and Patrick Williams led the way with 22 points each. A returning Nikola Vucevic chipped in 21 markerts as well.

The Sixers are -4.5 spread favorites over the Bulls, who are at +4.5.

The Moneyline for this matchup is -195 for the 76ers and +163 for the Bulls.

The game will be telecast on NBC Sports at 7:40 PM ET with live streaming available via fuboTV.
