A 35-year-old pregnant Florida woman was allegedly shot dead by a motorcyclist after she reportedly hit the latter with her car.

The incident took place Saturday when the woman, identified as Sara Morales, intentionally hit Andrew Derr’s motorcycle with her blue Kia in the 1400 block of N. Volusia Ave, according to a statement from the Orange City Police Department. It was a minor crash, and Derr reportedly didn't sustain severe injuries.

The cops said Derr then attempted to stop Morales at the intersection of 17-92 and Wisconsin Avenue when she tried to drive off. Following this, Derr and other witnesses followed Morales to her home to identify her for law enforcement.

Morales, however, went inside her house and returned with a gun, which she pointed at Derr and the witnesses as they dialed 911, according to the statement.

Derr, who had a valid Florida concealed carry permit, also retrieved a gun and shot Morales several times. Morales, who was four months pregnant, was rushed to a hospital where she died. Her unborn baby didn't survive either, according to Washington Examiner.

She left behind an 11-year-old daughter and her fiance, The Epoch Times reported.

Derr, who was not injured, stayed at the scene to cooperate with the police, and told the authorities he acted in self-defense.

"I’m not moving. Please don’t shoot me," The Epoch Times quoted Derr, as saying. "That girl tried to kill me. She pointed a gun at me … I’m so sorry."

As of Tuesday, Derr has not been charged in connection to Morales’ death. The Orange County Police Department said the incident was under investigation.

Last week, a pregnant woman was fatally shot in front of her house while she was unloading gifts from her car during her own baby shower. A police officer who was patrolling the streets about two blocks away heard the shots being fired and found the heavily injured woman, who was seven months pregnant. No arrests had been made in connection with the crime as of Sunday.
