Prince Harry resented Prince Charles for making him look bad.

Prince William and Prince Harry weren’t very close to the Prince of Wales growing up. However, they shared a tight bond with their mom Princess Diana. At one point, the Duke of Sussex was reportedly furious with his father for using him for his PR.

In 2002, underage Prince Harry was seen drinking in the village pub near Highgrove. He was also spotted smoking marijuana. According to sources, Prince Charles stepped in and took him to a drug rehabilitation center in South London that left the young royal “short sharp shock.”

“Harry had in fact once visited a rehab centre, but not with his father – and not because his father was worried about him,” Penny Junor wrote in her 2017 biography “The Duchess.”

“Charles had no idea what either of his sons got up to, and Harry bitterly resented being made to look bad so his father could look good. Worse, he was furious that the blame for leading him astray should have fallen on Guy Pelly, a good friend of both princes, whose reputation was trashed.”

Meanwhile, according to Katie Nicholl in her 2010 book “William and Harry,” the incident triggered Prince William and Prince Harry’s first serious rift.

Prince Harry reportedly resented the fact that he had been blamed for everything while his older brother, Prince William, could get away with anything scot-free.

On the Duke of Cambridge’s end, he wasn’t happy with what happened. Prince William felt guilty that his younger brother had to take all the blame while he came out as Mr. Goody Two Shoes. At the time, Princess Diana and Prince Charles’s sons were barely on speaking terms until Prince William visited Prince Harry in Eton to end their rift.

In related news, Prince Harry and Prince William are pitted against each other following their household split. Just recently, they had a social media clash after both shared intimate family photos on the same day, and this upset the palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were accused of stealing the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s thunder. According to royal correspondent Camilla Tominey, Prince William and Middleton refused to be overshadowed by Prince Harry and Markle. Meanwhile, the latter doesn’t want to be “sidelined.”
