She’s only been a Duchess for just over a year, but just a few weeks short of receiving her title when she married Prince Harry, Meghan Markle made a major faux pas and forgot an important bit of royal protocol during the annual Trooping of the Color event.

The event served as Markle’s first official engagement as a royal following her marriage and honors the Queen’s birthday. However, according to Express UK, a newly unearthed clip of the event shows Prince Harry prompting his wife to curtsy to his grandmother.

The website notes that she can be seen asking her husband under her breath, “Do it?” and he appears to reply “Yes.” Her lack of being sure whether she was supposed to curtsy put her out of sync with others, including her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, who managed to curtsy on time.

However, the late curtsy wasn’t the only place Markle was seen as going wrong. While it didn’t break protocol, her off-the-shoulder Carolina Herrera dress was considered discouraging because it revealed her shoulders.

Of course, while she was criticized at the time, since then, the Duchess of Sussex has been the focus of several other stories about how she has broken traditions. Most notably, she was recently criticized for opting not to do the traditional photo call after the birth of her son, Archie Harrison, in early May. While Middleton and Princess Diana both posed on the steps outside of the Lindo Wing after each of their children’s births, Markle not only did not give birth at the posh locale but also did not introduce her son to the world officially until two days after his birth.
