Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may be following Donald Trump’s strategy by making one particular move.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have declared war against the press by filing a lawsuit against the British tabloids. According to Martha Ross of The Mercury News, there’s a common ground between Prince Harry and Markle with the American politician in terms of their fight against unfair media.

Royal correspondent Katie Nicholl pointed out how the couple is increasingly using social media to circumvent more traditional press and PR by posting their own exclusive news, photos and videos.

“It‘s a method already favored by many celebrities, and even Donald Trump, who seems to prefer a tweet to holding official White House press conferences,” Nicholl said.

Prince Harry and Markle have amassed 9.6 million followers on Instagram already. If Trump is into Twitter, the royal couple is using the online photo-sharing application to make announcements.

“For them, the future is Instagram over the press,” Nicholl said about the royal couple. “They are reaching a global audience that’s more than the broadsheets and tabloids combined, and crucially presenting themselves the way they want to. As far as Harry is concerned, it’s a way of cutting out the mainstream press, which is very convenient because he basically hates the press.”

In related news, according to an insider Prince Harry is making himself “newsworthy” with his latest move of declaring war against the media. The source said that for years there have been a steady steam of civil cases about phone hacking without evidence.

The complainants would just say that the publications would not get a particular story without hacking their phone. The lawyers just settle it because it’s easier before adding that Prince Harry “wants to make a big public statement out of it.”

Many also believed that the duke did not inform the other members of the royal family about their controversial move of suing the press. According to royal correspondent Richard Palmer, at present the couple got no support from the royal family.

“Nobody in the Royal Family or the Royal Household is supporting Harry and Meghan at the moment. Even the couple’s aides seem embarrassed by their actions. William, who dropped his brother like a ton of hot bricks earlier this year, and Charles have distanced themselves,” Palmer wrote on Twitter.
