Prince Harry’s cheeky best man speech at Prince William and Kate Middleton’s royal wedding should have included a compliment for his sister-in-law.

According to Katie Nicholl in her 2017 biography “Harry: Life, Loss, and Love,” the Duke of Sussex prepared a hilarious but warm speech for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s royal wedding. His girlfriend at the time, Chelsy Davy, helped him edit it and ordered that he delete one line that praised Middleton’s legs.

“She had helped Harry edit the best man’s speech, sensitively advising him to take out a line about Kate’s ‘killer legs’ that might have embarrassed the bride,” Nicholl wrote.

Prince Harry’s speech was “affectionate, warm and funny” that it touched his brother Prince William. It also made Middleton shed a tear at one point.

“When he said the couple’s decade-long romance was his inspiration, there was a shy smile from Chelsy, while Kate shed a tear,” Nicholl continued.

“The speech was peppered with Harry’s classic sense of humour, and he ribbed his brother: ‘William didn’t have a romantic bone in his body before he met Kate, so I knew it was serious when William suddenly started cooing down the phone at Kate.’”

Prince Harry also impersonated Prince William’s endearment to Middleton when he called the bride “babykins” and this made the guests laughed.

Aside from his wonderful speech, Prince Harry gave Prince William and Middleton a big surprise by arranging for the newlyweds a short drive back to Clarence House in their father’s beloved open-topped Aston Martin Volante. The car was decked out with balloons, red, white and blue streamers with a “JU5T WED” number plate that delighted the couple.

However, following the wedding, Prince Harry was left “bitter and lonely” when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge decided to move to Norfolk. Meghan Markle’s husband felt that he lost his partners in crime, especially his big brother, Prince William.

Prince Harry was also very close to Middleton. They were photographed enjoying each other’s company in various engagements they attended. The royal mom of three reportedly “fill some of the emotional voids” in Prince Harry’s life.

Meanwhile, Prince William and Middleton’s royal wedding also made Davy realized one thing: she’s not suited to be a royal. After witnessing Middleton’s big day, she knew that she wasn’t cut for the life of a royal bride.
