Prince Harry warned Meghan Markle about something on her first Christmas with the royal family.

The Duchess of Sussex was favored by Queen Elizabeth II. She was the first royal fiancée allowed to spend the holidays with the royals. Kate Middleton only spent Christmas with the members of the Firm after she married Prince William.

The royal family is expected to reunite again this year for the same occasion. Since Christmas is fast approaching, we look back at the Duchess of Sussex’s first Christmas with the Queen and the rest of the royals.

According to Express, Prince Harry warned Markle to “play down her skills” to avoid upsetting Queen Elizabeth II. On Christmas, the royals gather together. It’s the time of the year when the Queen gives her royal command performance on Christmas night. She also reels off her impersonating skills.

Prince Harry was reportedly desperate to make Christmas at Sandringham perfect for everyone. So, he gave his then-fiancée a list of dos and don’ts to ease Markle into their family traditions.

“It can be very confusing. The jokes and presents are very cheesy, life is grand, the protocol is unbending, and it terrifies the life out of incomes,” a royal aide revealed.

“They don’t like show-offs, especially newcomers to show off. The Duchess has to resist that American urge to win at everything. The whole family likes to play charades on Christmas night and she must never beat the Queen, who is a fine actress herself.”

Aside from telling Markle how to play with the royals’ favorite charade, he also informed the actress to not speak against the traditional Boxing Day pheasant shoot because Markle is an animal rights advocate.

In 2018, Prince Harry skipped the Boxing Day shoot. According to a source, it remains a tricky issue between the couple because Markle is a keen animal rights campaigner. Although Prince William’s brother loves it, he skipped it last year because he did not want to upset his wife.
