Prince Philip is still recovering at King Edward VIII Hospital after undergoing treatment for a pre-existing condition. But a source said that the Duke of Edinburgh desperately wants to return to Sandringham to celebrate Christmas with the royal family.

While speaking with the Sunday Mirror, the source said that if there will be no complications, it is possible for the dad of four to be transported back to Sandringham in time for the royal family’s Christmas dinner.

During his recent engagement, Prince Charles also assured the public that his father is doing well. He told reporters while visiting the flood-hit areas in the north of England that the Duke is being looked after really well at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Prince Philip and Prince Charles also made headlines this week after former royal chef Darren McGrady revealed how the two male royals had an encounter one Christmas Day years ago.

While speaking with Daily Mail, McGrady said that the Queen’s husband scoffed and rolled his eyes at his eldest son after Prince Charles tried to change one of their holiday traditions.

“One year, Prince Charles had a rival hamper sent, full of organic produce from his Highgrove estate. The Duke of Edinburgh wandered into the kitchen and was poking around, asking questions,” McGrady recounted.

After seeing the organic produce inside the hamper, Prince Philip was reportedly not pleased. After criticizing them, he stormed out of the room.

In related news, Prince Philip and Prince Charles don’t always see eye to eye. In fact, previous reports revealed that they were never close.

Royal author Sally Bedell Smith wrote in her book “Prince Charles: The Passions and Paradoxes of An Improbable Life” that Prince Charles was oftentimes belittled by Prince Philip because the latter thought his eldest son was too soft.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s alpha-male tendencies were also seen as a form of bullying towards Prince Charles.
