Princess Diana only ever loved one man, according to one of her friends.

Princess Diana and Prince Charles only met 12 times before they got married. Although they hadn't spent a lot of time together, it was true love for Princess Diana.

"The thing that surprised me most is they had only been out 12 times before they got married," said Susan Zirinsky, senior executive producer of the documentary, "Princess Diana: Her Life, Her Death, Her Truth."

"They had only been together 12 times and at one point Prince Philip pressured his son and said, 'you have to do the right thing.'"

The documentary featured Princess Diana's friends including Lana Marks. According to Marks, the People's Princess told her that she only loved the Prince of Wales.

"I really have only loved one man, and that's Charles," Princess Diana told Marks not long before her death (as quoted in The Sun).

Another friend of Princess Diana also revealed that she didn't want to divorce her husband. The People's Princess reportedly wanted the life she had and if she had her ways, she would try to make things work.

"She wasn’t the one who wanted to separate or have a divorce, it was sprung upon her," Princess Diana's trainer Jenni Rivett told Yahoo UK. "At the end of the day it was [Charles and Diana’s] call, but I can tell you right now it wasn’t what she wanted."

"She wanted to be the Princess of Wales, she wanted to be the Queen of people’s hearts, she wanted to be a good mother, which she was, and a good wife," she added.

In related news, Prince Harry’s birth reportedly triggered Princess Diana and Prince Charles' rocky marriage. The Prince of Wales was unhappy when he learned that their second child was still a boy.

The Prince of Wales complained to Princess Diana's mom and told her that he was "so disappointed - we thought it would be a girl." Frances Shand Kydd just told her son-in-law that he was still lucky that his newborn was normal.

Prince Charles' reaction hurt Princess Diana deeply because she knew they were having another boy while the future king wanted a girl. Princess Diana revealed that "something inside me closed off" after the incident and their marriage broke down shortly that resulted in their divorce.
