Princess Diana and Prince Charles engaged in a rare public display of affection when they were still expecting Prince William.

The Prince and Princess of Wales had a fairytale-like wedding. However, it was not a secret that their marriage was very far from it. The couple didn’t have a happy ending.

Some questioned Prince Charles’ feelings for Princess Diana. Many said that he didn’t really love her because he was in love with Camilla Parker Bowles the whole time.

However, based on their old photos, the coupled seemed loved up. In the snaps shared on Instagram, Prince Charles and Princess Diana packed on some rare PDA during a swimming session. In one photo, Prince Charles and Princess Diana kiss while the future king touches his then-wife’s shoulder. In another photo, Princess Diana wraps Prince Charles in her arms while he places a hand on her waist.

“More PDAs--caught from a distance by powerful camera lenses,” the caption read.

In another shot, the Prince and Princess of Wales stand across each other and seem to be talking with Princess Diana holding something that appears to be a towel or robe in her hand. They are smiling and they look so happy.

In another photo, Prince Charles and Princess Diana are holding each other while in the water. He is assisting her by placing a hand on her back. Meanwhile, Princess Diana puts her hand on her then-husband’s shoulder.

“Prince Charles seems so protective of Diana here--too bad it didn’t last,” the royal fan wrote in the caption.

In the snaps, Princess Diana’s tummy is slightly bigger than the usual. According to another fan, she was actually five months pregnant with Prince William when the photos were taken in 1982.

“This photo seems tame now, but back in 1982, it made headlines all over the world!” the netizen wrote.

In related news, Princess Diana reportedly didn’t want to divorce Prince Charles. In her infamous Panorama interview, the People’s Princess shared how she came from a broken family and pointed out that she tried really hard to make her own marriage work because she didn’t want to fall back into a pattern that she saw in her own family.
