Princess Diana’s bodyguard shared the last four minutes he remembered before the Paris car crash that killed Prince William and Prince Harry’s mom. However, he, himself, was not confident with his memories.

Princess Diana’s tragic car crash that happened 22 years ago has remained a mystery. The sole survivor, her bodyguard Trevor Rees-Jones, tried to recollect the last thing that happened inside the car before the crash.

“I have a memory of stopping at traffic lights and seeing a motorcycle on the right-hand side of the car,” he said.

“I’m not sure about the other vehicles, but I can remember this motorcycle very clearly. My memory then is of total confusion.”

He added that he could no longer remember the pain and there was a lot of confusion. He couldn’t remember if someone was holding him or attempting to give him treatment. However, he remembered hearing someone moaning and saying “Dodi”, but he couldn’t tell who said it. He believed it was probably Princess Diana because it was a female voice.

Reese underwent 10 hours of surgery after the crash and he said that he couldn’t remember most of the things that happened. Dr. Maurice Lipsedge, a psychiatrist, confirmed Rees’ memory loss as a result of the accident.

Lipsedge said that Rees-Jones can still remember getting into the Mercedes in the Rue Cambon and the car driving off. The crash happened less than five minutes after they left the hotel. However, all of his memories after that are vague.

“A few snatches might come back to him but his memories are not at all reliable because even for him it is impossible to tell if these are genuine memories or reconstructions of events from information he might have had later, dreams or imagination,” Lipsedge said.

According to Xavier Gourmelon, one of the first members of the emergency services who first responded following Princess Diana’s automobile accident, he thought the royal would survive. According to him, there was no blood on Princess Diana, only a slight surgery on the shoulder, so he was upset after finding out later that she died.

Princess Diana told her butler Paul Burrell months before the crash that she suspected Prince Charles of killing her to get married again. She said that her husband was plotting an automobile accident to kill her with a head surgery.
