A palm reader was arrested for swindling around $70 ,000 from a customer whose daughter she claimed to be possessed and needed an exorcism.

37-year-old Tracy Milanovich from Somerset convinced a client that her 10-year-old daughter was possessed by a demon and in order for her to “purchase her daughter’s soul back”, the victim had to give Milanovich cash and household items.

NBC Boston

reported that according to police, the victim gave away $71,000 in addition to the multiple household items such as towels and bedding that she bought for the suspect.

Milanovich went on to ask for more money, claiming that the previous payment only “cleaned half of her daughter” and an “additional $6,058.00” was needed to completely remove the demon which, she allegedly told the victim that she would transfer to a Barbie doll.

The suspect reportedly ordered the victim not to tell anyone because “spirits would know what she was doing if she told anyone.”

Milanovich, known as Miss Tracy, was the owner of Tracy’s Psychic Palm Reader and claimed that palm reading was passed down to her family for five to six genrations.

She had an office in Fall River for 10 years and opened one in Somerset in 2018.

According to U.S. News, the victim started going to Milanovich’s business for a tarot reading on Nov. 15.
Police started investigating Milanovich around Dec. 17 when the client reported that Milanovich tried to scam her into giving a huge sum of money and finally arrested her on Friday, Dec. 27.

Milanovich was charged with six counts of obtaining property over $250 by trick, larceny over $1,200 and intimidation of a witness, the Boston Herald reported.

The suspect was arraigned on Monday in Fall River District Court and was released on personal recognizance.

A private investigator who specializes in psychic fraud told the Boston Herald on Thursday that victims of these “extremely common” psychic scams are too embarrassed to report their cases.

Bob Nygaard, a retired New Yorck city police officer who helped crack an $800,000 swindling case said that a lot of educated people can fall to scams and anyone can be victimized by con artists.

“You need to understand how good these con artists are at duping vulnerable people,” he said. “People should not feel ashamed about coming forward.”

“I give the police and prosecutors a lot of credit for taking this case seriously,” Nygaard said of the Somerset case. “A lot of the time, law enforcement turns their backs to victims in these situations.”

He also gave a few warning signs to watch out for when dealing with psychic scammers, which are psychics saying “You can’t talk about this with anybody; this is only between you and me,” and “I’m the only one who can help you solve this problem.”

Authorities encourage people who had been victimized by Milanovich to contact Officer Donald Cormier at 508-679-2138.
