The new trailer for “A Quiet Place Part II” dropped and we got our first look at Emily Blunt’s character, her kids, and some new characters in a slightly different environment. Where the first film took place almost entirely contained within the protagonist’s property, this one seems to venture out, not just in the world, but through time.

The trailer starts out with “Day 1” being shown on the screen, followed by the main characters driving through the chaos of a populated area on the day the alien invasion event took place.

“What’s happening?” Blunt’s character questions as she speeds through the city streets. A large creature tramples over their car before the family is nearly run down by an unmanned bus.

Then we cut to the present, where the story picks up right after the first movie ended. The family, now without their father and husband (John Krasinski), wander through the salted pathway into the wilderness. It’s then that they come across a booby trap, a string of bottles tied together, triggering a loud noise and forcing the family to take refuge in a nearby building. It is here they meet a new, strange character.

Cillian Murphy, best known for the similarly post-apocalyptic fright film “28 Days Later,” plays a mysterious new face who whispers his way through the trailer, informing the family that there’s “nothing left.”

“There are people out there worth saving,” Blunt’s character insists.

Murphy’s character whispers in response, “The people that are left are not the kind of people worth saving.”

The trailer then cuts to Blunt, cocking a shotgun in a call back to the final moments of the first movie, followed by the title card for “A Quiet Place Part II.”

Additionally, Fandango released a new photo from the movie, in which Evelyn (Emily Blunt) tries to keep Marcus (Noah Jupe) quiet.

“Blood Diamond” and “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor Djimon Hounsou is also a new addition to the cast, replacing “Atlanta” star Brian Tyree Henry, who was previously in talks for the role. As for Murphy’s character, it isn’t clear on whether he’ll play an antagonist type of role or if he’ll be an unexpected ally.

It's safe to say audiences are getting excited. In just over 24 hours, the “A Quiet Place Part II” trailer has already been viewed over 7 million times on YouTube and over 11 million times on Twitter.

“A Quiet Place Part II” hits theaters March 20.
