The pre-production work for “Resident Evil” reboot movie has started. Johannes Roberts is helming the project. The director recently pitched his ideas to studio executives, and they reportedly accepted them.

There have been rumors about Roberts joining the reboot as a director, and he has now confirmed to Screen Rant that he is indeed working on the film. Roberts said that the film is in “active development,” and he added that he even got to pitch a take of the movie to studio executives.

The production of the film is “going great,” according to Roberts. The director also teased that the film will be “super scary.” He isn’t allowed to tease too many details right now, but he said that this movie is going to be “a lot of fun.”

The films of the franchise are inspired from the popular games with the same name. Roberts said that the reboot is “getting back to the roots” of the games.

Roberts has a lot of experience working on horror films. Some of his films include “Darkhunters,” “The Strangers: Prey at Night,” and “Storage 24.” His most recent film is “47 Meters Down,” which is underwater thriller with sharks, CBR reported.

There have been multiple “Resident Evil” movies that have been made in the past. Milla Jovovich’s Alice is the lead in these films, but the character is not there in the games. With Roberts going back to the games for inspiration, it remains to be seen what new characters will be featured in the reboot.

While the fans prepare for the new movie, there is another game from the franchise on the way. A new game is currently in development, and according to Tech Radar, Capcom’s Division 1 has already emailed the ambassadors of the game in Japan to join the development of the game by testing it.

As far as the “Resident Evil” reboot movie is concerned, it is still in the pre-production phase of development. Details about the production schedule and filming locations may be announced in the coming weeks.
