Cooking for one on Christmas Day can be no fun. Alternatively, with or without the holiday, realizing the pantry is totally bare while a couple of crying, hungry kids are in the living room can also be a major bummer.

However, many of America’s dining establishments are keeping their lights and grills on for occasions just like those. It's reminiscent of the dialogue from the classic "Santa Clause" movie when Tim Allen’s character takes his son to a Denny’s on Christmas Day.

“All right. Denny's. Denny's. Always open,” Allen’s character said in the movie while smiling as he takes off his seat belt.

His bratty-behaving son, staring angrily at the restaurant, tells his father that he doesn’t want to eat there. But Allen’s character has a classic response: “What do you mean? Everybody likes Denny’s! It’s an American institution!”

So, without further ado, below is a list of restaurants that have announced they will be open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Denny’s: Surprised? "Santa Clause" was on the money here, as Denny's is open every day of the year.

IHOP: The International House of Pancakes also manages to be open 365 days of the year.

Waffle House: The diner restaurant pattern is not a coincidence. These folks are open every day, as well.

Applebee’s: Call ahead, but the locally-decorated neighborhood Applebee’s is likely open on Christmas Day. Yes, that means the fixins of a classic Applebee’s visit, including their signature margaritas.

Hooters: That’s right, anyone can get a wing fix on Christmas Day if they’re in the mood. And, as International Business Times argued last year, it would not at all be weird to hang out at a Hooters on Christmas Day the place sells tons of appetizers, enough types of salad to use up all of the fingers on one hand if counting and has a whole wings section to choose from.
