KEY POINTS

  • The first three episodes of "Harry & Meghan" didn't bring new bombshells, according to a royal expert
  • The show featured many old allegations that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have already spoken about
  • Markle spoke about her tight bond with her niece, Ashleigh Hale, who wasn't invited to her royal wedding

The royal family is probably relieved after Netflix dropped the first three episodes of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's docuseries, according to a royal expert.

The anticipated "Harry & Meghan" debuted Thursday. Royal commentator Jonathan Sacerdoti weighed in on how the first three episodes affected the royal family. In his opinion, the members of the firm should not be bothered because there was nothing new on the show.

"I don't think there was very much in there that was particularly new or that will have worried them too much. It was [a] repetition of the same old gripes, repetition of the same sort of stuff [they've previously claimed]," the royal expert told Us Weekly.

But he noted that it is still too early to say that there will be no more bombshells because more episodes are coming next week.

"So, I think they may be breathing a sigh of relief on that front, but, you know, there are three more of these [episodes] to come," he added.

As for the first episodes of "Harry & Meghan," Sacerdito noted that it featured many of the old allegations that the royal couple already addressed following their royal exit in 2020. So, in his opinion, the show might be disappointing to those looking for new bombshells.

"I think that if anyone was watching it for explosive gossip about the royal family, they would've been sorely disappointed," he added. "I found one bit where she talked about her niece [Ashleigh Hale] quite interesting, the idea that she had this very close relationship with her niece. And in fact, this was [the] one person from her father's family who was actually interviewed in the whole piece."

Sacerdoti found Markle's revelation about her niece interesting. He questioned why Markle, who spoke about her close bond with Hale in the documentary, didn't invite her to her 2018 royal wedding.

"Now, if that's the case, that still doesn't really explain very much to me. I mean, this was a massive wedding [and] very few members of her actual family there," Sacerdoti added about Hale being absent from Markle's big day despite them sharing a tight bond.

"Here is somebody she's genuinely close to, by her own reckoning and by the niece's reckoning, and she's not invited — but people like George Clooney, who she'd never actually met, were invited to the wedding. That felt very strange."

International Business Times could not independently verify Sacerdoti's claims.

The first three episodes of "Hary & Meghan" are now on Netflix.
