There’s a new murder to solve when Taylor Cole and Stephen Huszar reprise their roles as Ruby Herring and Jake Killian, respectively, in Hallmark Movies & Mysteries’ “Ruby Herring Mysteries: Her Last Breath” on Sunday.

In this sequel to the first installment of the franchise, which premiered in January, fans will be introduced to Ruby’s dad, John Herring, who’s being played by none other than “The Flash” (both the CBS and CW versions) alum and “Dawson’s Creek” actor, John Wesley Shipp.

John is a former well-known crime reporter who has clearly passed on his skills and “Herring Hunch” to his daughter. He’ll offer advice and support to Ruby throughout the new Hallmark Movies & Mysteries film.

Also joining for this flick is “Make It or Break It” and “UnREAL” actress Chelsea Hobbs as Jenny Taylor and Andrew Francis as Roger. The “Chesapeake Shores” actor will have two big projects airing Sunday night, as the Season 4 finale of his Hallmark Channel drama airs at 8 p.m. EDT and then “Ruby Herring Mysteries: Her Last Breath” airs on the sister network right afterward.

Here’s what’s to come from the new, 2019 mysteries movie:

According to the synopsis, “Ruby Herring is a popular consumer reporter at a Seattle TV station who finds herself drawn into the hunt for a killer when the strange death of her friend, a celebrated health/fitness guru, turns out to be premeditated murder.

Determined to find out who killed her friend and certain the police are on the wrong track, Ruby is encouraged in her pursuit by her dad, legendary investigative crime reporter John Herring. Careful to avoid perceived interference in a police investigation, Ruby works in the shadows while forming an unofficial alliance with Jake Killian, the handsome Seattle P.D. homicide detective assigned to the case.”

Written by Andrea Canning and Lynn Keller and directed by Fred Gerber, the Hallmark movie also features Christina Cox (Amanda Kelly), Ryan Rosery (Tripp Bancroft), Karen Holness (Angela Birch), Matthew Kevin Anderson (Frank Young), Mig Macario (Derek Saylor), James Kot (Tommy Madden), Rachel Hayward (Natalie Billings), Kehli O’Byrne (Miranda Billings) and Maria Turner (Sarah Henning) in its cast.

“Ruby Herring Mysteries: Her Last Breath” premieres on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries on Sunday at 9 p.m. EDT.
