A man wanted for questioning in connection with a shooting incident in Samson, Alabama, died Sunday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office confirmed. The man was identified as James Chadwick Green, 45.

According to MCSO Captain George Beaudry, Green led authorities on a police chase through Montgomery. Authorities had received a tip about Green's vehicle, a red 2017 Toyota truck, on Interstate 85 southbound near Taylor Road.

Police tried to initiate a traffic stop, but Green's vehicle did not pull over. The chase ended on Interstate 65 southbound at exit 168 (South Blvd.), where there was a heavy police presence.

The Alabama State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) sent out a release Saturday after a woman died from what is believed to be a gunshot wound. At the time, police shared photos of Green saying he was a wanted suspect out of Alabama who was believed to be armed and dangerous.

Authorities also said Green was a former police officer with Samson Police Department and was terminated several weeks ago.
