Sarah Ferguson opened up about the real reason behind her divorce from Prince Andrew in a previous interview.

In 2009, the Duchess of York spoke to US TV host Ernie Manouse and talked about her failed marriage with Prince Andrew. According to Ferguson, they parted ways because they didn't get to spend as much time together as they wanted.

"My deal was that I was marrying my man, who happened to be a prince and a naval officer," Ferguson said (via Express). "But what I got was not the man, I got the palace and didn't get him.. and the courtiers told me I had to go to Buckingham Palace and he had to go to sea. For our marriage, I saw him 40 days a year."

In another interview back in 2010, Ferguson confessed that she still loves her ex-husband. But even if the love is still there, they chose not to remarry because marriage is not meant for them.

"I think the love I had for him then, is the love I still have for him now," Ferguson admitted. "I still married the best and he's the greatest gentleman that I know."

"Why aren't we married? Everybody says well then surely it should be the happy ever after ending?" Ferguson added, laughing. "But we are the happy ever after, it's just not about marriage. It's more about this extraordinary friendship we have. Andrew and I, we have a love which is unfathomable, it's so great and the two girls love it. Should we be married? I don't think we're meant to be married."

Ferguson also previously gushed about her royal wedding to Prince Andrew. According to her, the event was extraordinary. However, the most special thing on that day was her groom.

"Like every bride's wedding day, it's a special day. And you've got a beautiful dress on. But you're standing there with the man you love. And then there are people out there who are wishing you so well. And it's just extraordinary. It's just unfathomable. You can't explain it," the duchess recalled.

"And when I went up that aisle, I had - I married my man," Ferguson told Piers Morgan in 2011. "I also married a sailor. And I got a prince. But my man was the most important thing for me, Piers, because nothing was more important than him."

Prince Andrew and Ferguson's youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie, is getting married to her fiancé, Jack Brooksbank, in October.
