A man in India has been arrested for allegedly murdering his lover, a sex worker, and dumping her dismembered body in suitcases, police said. The police recovered the remains almost two weeks after her death.

The 40-year-old unidentified suspect from Pune, a city in the western Indian state of Maharashtra, was arrested Tuesday for strangling to death his 31-year-old lover after an argument with her. The victim lived in Budhwar Peth, an area in the city known for its red-light district. The suspect reportedly admitted to the murder and helped the police locate the three suitcases in which he dumped the woman's body, said a report by The Times of India.

The investigation began after the victim was reported missing by one of the brothel operators in the area, Catch News reported. The investigators found out that the victim was in a relationship with the suspect who was married and lived in an accommodation that the suspect rented for her.

On Aug. 12, the suspect reportedly throttled the woman to death after an argument with her while he was at her apartment. He then left the place after locking the house from outside. The suspect reportedly got back to the house on Aug. 14 and chopped the woman's body, which was then stuffed in suitcases. Police said he then transported the suitcases in a vehicle he borrowed from his friend and dumped it in different locations.

The unidentified teenager from Saharanpur, a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, was arrested for hacking to death his 20-year-old brother after an argument over a phone lock. The duo reportedly had a scuffle after the victim locked his brother's new mobile phone and forgot the combination of the lock. The suspect attacked the victim with a spade while he was asleep and chopped up the body parts, which were then buried in different locations inside their house.
