Simu Liu, who confirmed on Twitter earlier this month that "Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings" got a sequel, revealed Wednesday the fate of his character Shang-Chi and Awkwafina's character, Katy.

Shang-Chi and Katy played best friends in the movie and during a recent interview with Character Media, the actor reflected on whether their friendship will turn into marriage or not.

According to Liu, they already share a beautiful relationship and it feels refreshing to watch a man and woman on-screen not necessarily have to fall in love and instead they can just remain friends.

"I’m not saying they never will, but it’s certainly not hinted at. I think in the movie, what they have is just truly wonderful," he said, adding: "I think it represents a lot of the male-female friendships that I have in life."

When the interviewer asked if they will get married in the future, the 32-year-old actor replied, "I think we’ll see where the story goes, but I think if you were to ask me now… Do I think Shaun and Katy should be romantically involved? I would say no."

"Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings" marked the first Asian superhero movie in Hollywood and it definitely breaks a lot of racial stereotypes.

Considering the non-sexual friendship of Katy and Shang-Chi in the movie, it is something that fans have never witnessed before as usually, the male lead character falls in love with another female lead character.

"Shang-Chi and the Legends of the Ten Rings" is not the only movie in which Marvel Studios is breaking the unsaid rules but recently they also showed a gay marriage and a sex scene in “Eternals,” which was released on Nov. 5.

In fact, several gulf countries also banned the movie and demanded to remove same-sex love-making to release the movie in theaters.

Besides the sequel of "Shang-Chi," Liu will be next seen in "One True Loves," which is slated for release next year and the movie is under post-production. Liu is currently filming "Arthur the King," which is also expected to come out in 2022.
