R&B singer Ann Marie has been arrested for allegedly shooting a man in the head in Atlanta.

The 25-year-old Chicago-based hip-hop star is charged with "possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony," CBS 46 reported. In addition, she was booked for "aggravated assault with a deadly weapon." Hailing from Illinois, the singer's real name is Joann Marie Slater. Later, she adopted Ann Marie as her professional name.

The singer allegedly shot a 24-year-old man at the Intercontinental Buckhead Hotel in Atlanta on Dec. 1. According to a police statement, officers discovered the victim in a room in the hotel with a gunshot wound to the head. At the time, the victim was reportedly still "responsive" and answered officers' questions.

He was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital and was in critical condition. No updates are available about his current condition.

Ann Marie told police that the gun fell off a table in the room and the bullets hit the victim in his head. The police report said the "Secret" singer was "screaming hysterically" at the time of the incident, forcing the officers to remove her from the scene. She reportedly asked the officers if the man survived the firing. The duo apparently grew up together in Chicago and was on a trip to Atlanta.

The singer was held at the Fulton County Jail.

Ann Marie's single "Secret" is her best-known number, which made it to Billboard Hot R&B Songs Chart in 2019, People reported. The song peaked to rank 22 for four weeks and garnered more than 80 million views on YouTube.

She released her first EP, titled "Pretty Psycho," in July 2019 under Zulu Entertainment and Interscope Records. She also has three mixtapes – "Unfuckwittable," "Tripolar" and "Tripolar 2."
