Snapchat is a fun way to communicate with friends using photos and videos, but saving photos and getting a Snapstreak back can be tricky sometimes.

Here are a few tips for those who aren’t that familiar with how Snapchat works.

How To Save A Photo On Snapchat

Users who want to save a snap can easily do so, and have various way of keeping them. The easiest one is by tapping on the download button before sending it to friends. The download button is found on the left-hand corner on the bottom of the screen after taking the picture or video and before sharing it.

For those who forgot to tap on the icon before sending it, they can go My Story, tap on the menu icon on the right, choose the snap to open it and then tap on the download icon in the bottom-right of the screen. Once the snap is open, there are a couple more ways to save content. Users can tap on the menu icon on the top-right of the screen and tap on the download icon on the bottom-left of the screen. Another way to save a snap is swiping up on an open snap and tapping on the download button on the top-right of the screen.

Users can save their full Story by going to My Story and tapping on the download icon on the top.

What Is A Snapstreak?

Snapstreaks are a fun way to know how long users have been snapping with their friends. The fire emoji is displayed next to a friend’s name when the user and friend have snapped each other within 24 hours for three consecutive days. The fire emoji and number next to a friend’s name on Snapchat indicates how many days the users have sent snaps back and forth. Snapstreaks only works with snaps, not when users simply chat. To keep a Snapstreak going, users have to keep snapping within a 24 hour window. Those who are close to missing the timeframe will see an hourglass icon next to their friend’s name, indicating the Snapstreak between them is about to expire.

How To Get Your Snapstreak Back On Snapchat

In case a Snapstreak is accidently lost, users can fill out a form on Snapchat’s site. The form can be found under the Contact Us page and by clicking on “My Snapstreaks disappear.” A message will be displayed on the bottom that explains what the feature is. Users should go to the “Still Need Help” option and click “Yes.”

The form is simple to fill out. It asks questions like the username, email address, mobile number and what type of device the app was used with. Users will also have to provide some information about the Snapstreak they’re inquiring about. Snap users will have to disclose the friend’s username, when the Snapstreak was lost, if they saw an hourglass icon and other information. After filling out the form, users can hit submit and wait for Snapchat to get back to them. It should take about 24 hours for Snapchat to reply.

Users should be aware that Snaps sent with Memories or Spectacles content to other Snapchatters are not valid for Snapstreaks. They also don’t work with group chats.
