A South Carolina woman reportedly bit a paramedic's groin and stole a deputy's taser while they attempted to arrest her. The incident took place on Dec. 28, 2021, when Charleston County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call and found Gina McGehee, 63, attempting to leave her nephew at the detention centre, WCNC-TV reported.

McGehee had brought her nephew to Al Cannon Detention Center in Charleston County stating that he was watching obscene content on her cellphone. Deputies made several failed attempts to get McGehee, who was the boy's legal guardian, to take him back home and were finally forced to issued a warrant in her name.

The woman reportedly refused to go back to the detention facility to pick up her nephew. "I'm not going back there. He is your problem now," she told deputies, according to a report cited by WCNC-TV.

McGehee allegedly said, "Send a cop to come take me to jail because I’m not going back." She returned to the jail only after the warrant was issued but turned loud and boisterous when officers attempted to detain her.

The sheriff’s office said McGehee resisted arrest and snatched a deputy's taser. She also held her breath so that she could pass out. When a paramedic was able to wake her up, she bit his groin. McGehee was taken to Medical University of South Carolina for evaluation and was later transported to jail, NBC-affiliated WMBF-TV reported.

Charleston County jail records show McGehee was booked on charges of third-degree assault and battery, unlawful conduct toward a child, threatening life, person or family of official, and assault of a police officer while resisting arrest. She posted bond on Dec. 29, 2021, and her first court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 18.

The age of her nephew wasn't disclosed by deputies.

In Nov 2021, a convicted murderer who was released from prison was arrested again for attacking deputies with a hatchet while they attempted to rescue three people trapped inside his home. The suspect, Mitchell Albritton, 61, told officers, who were responding a call regarding a hostage situation, that he was armed and tried to shut the door. Deputies forced the door open and Albritton allegedly attacked them with a hatchet, injuring two of them while the others managed to arrest him.
