Fans won’t have to wait that long to find out what happened to Mon-El after his pod was sucked into a wormhole at the end of the Season 2 finale of “Supergirl.”

In a recent interview with TV Insider, Chris Wood said that viewers of the CW series will learn “sort of right away” in Season 3 where his character went and what he’s been doing since the events of last season’s finale.

“That’s a central part of the story for Kara (Melissa Benoist), in terms of where [Mon-El] is and if she can get him back and all that,” Wood said. “I can’t say specifics on when he comes back, but there are some subtle hints that start coming in the first couple moments of the season opener, and they try to piece together what’s going on. It sort of comes out of left field, his return, if you will.”

But when Mon-El comes back, he’s no longer the same guy the team and the viewers knew before. “He’s going to be a very different Mon-El than what we saw last year, largely due to the whole mystery surrounding where he went and what he's been doing,” Wood teased. “It definitely affects him. He’s been somewhere, doing something.”

“They’ve sworn me to secrecy on specifics,” Wood continued. “But there’s going to be a big change in him when he comes back [and]that worries the team. “

While Mon-El’s whereabouts is being kept under wraps, Wood said (via Hidden Remote) during a roundtable interview at San Diego Comic-Con in July that when viewers “do find out what actually happened to Mon-El, where he ends up going and what happens next, it’s going to be pretty satisfying.” “I think it brings some really exciting new areas to the show; I think the fans will be really excited,” Wood added.

Although it doesn’t seem that Mon-El will return to Earth early in Season 3, a trailer for the new season shows a reunion of sort between the Prince of Daxam and the Girl of Steel in what seems to be a dream sequence.

“Supergirl” Season 3 premieres on Monday, Oct. 9, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
