Melissa Benoist teased what fans can expect from next week’s Season 2 finale of “Supergirl.”

Benoist, who plays the titular role on the CW series, was interviewed by Comicbook.com at The CW Upfronts, and the actress surprisingly apologized in advance for what the viewers will go through while watching the finale. “I think it’s a huge finale, and there’s a lot going on, and I think people will go on an emotional roller coaster with Kara, so I’m sorry to all the fans in advance,” Benoist said.

When asked what the high point of the finale is, Benoist said it’s Calista Flockhart’s Cat Grant. “I missed her so much! Having her back felt really good,” Benoist said of the former series regular. “She elevates the show in a way no one else can.”

As revealed in the trailer for the episode, Kara challenges Rhea to a trial by combat in an attempt to stop the Daxamites from invading Earth. “May the fate of my people rest on the fate of my life,” the Girl of Steel says in the preview clip.

While Kara’s decision is selfless, her boyfriend Mon-El (Chris Wood) isn’t thrilled with her choice. “You just invoked a trial by combat!” an upset Mon-El tells Kara at the DEO.

Cat, meanwhile, supports Supergirl’s decision. “Do you think Supergirl is ready for this?” the CatCo Worldwide Media founder asks Supergirl’s alter ego Kara.

“She is,” answers the journalist.

“Then I put all my chips on the Girl of Steel,” the media mogul says.

The trailer also shows glimpses of the epic battle between Kara and her cousin Superman, and teases the debut appearance of General Zod (Mark Gibbon).

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said that the Season 2 finale is “probably the biggest episode” they have ever done. “We saved a bunch of money to pay for more visual effects and actually added another day to the schedule so we could make it as big as possible,” the exec producer shared. “And yet it also has multiple get-your-Kleenex scenes. We’re really excited about it. We’re all blown away.”

The exec producer added that viewers won’t be bored watching the finale. “Say whatever you want about the finales, [but] they’re not boring,” Kreisberg said with a laugh. “It really feels like the culmination of everything we’ve been doing all season long, all the different story lines. … It all comes together.”

“Supergirl” Season 2 finale airs on Monday, May 22 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW. The series will then return for Season3 in the fall.

While plot details about Season 3 are being kept under wraps, Benoist is sure that the show will only get bigger in the new season. “Every time I get a script, I’m like, ‘There’s no way we’re going to top what we just did.’ And then I read the new script and I’m like, ‘How are we going to do this?’ And somehow we do,” Benoist told Comicbook.com. “So I think we’ll only just keep getting bigger and bigger. The scope of this world is so massive that we can’t go back.”
