The massive success of "Twilight" in 2008, made Taylor Swift request for an appearance in the second installment, "The Twilight Saga: New Moon," which was released in 2009. However, Swift's request was rejected by the director Chris Weitz.

At the time, Swift was making headlines for dating one of the stars from the franchise, Taylor Lautner. "Taylor Swift was a huge Twi-hard," the 52-year-old director revealed during an episode of "The Twilight Effect" podcast dropped Wednesday.

Weitz revealed that his manager, who also worked for Swift, told him that the 32-year-old singer was interested in making an appearance in the sequel.

"She will be someone at the cafeteria, or the diner or whatever, but she just wants to be in this movie," the manager reportedly told Weitz.

The director rejected the request, and he explained why, "The moment that Taylor Swift walks onto the screen, for about five minutes, nobody is going to be able to process anything."

Weitz admitted that he wasn't happy about the decision as he lost a chance to hang out with the talented musician, but noted that he had to do what was best for the movie.

"I was like, 'Wow, I could've been hanging out with Taylor Swift or we maybe could've been friends.' I sort of feel like I sort of cost myself a chance to hang out with Taylor Swift," he said. "... But sometimes you make decisions thinking, 'This is for the best of the film.'"

Weitz made a guess and thought what would've been Swift's reaction to this. "She must have just been like, 'Who is this jerk?'"

The Twilight Saga movie series began in 2008 and ended in 2012. It was an adaptation of author Stephenie Meyer's novel of the same name. The vampire-themed romantic drama gained massive success at that time.

While Swift couldn't get an appearance in the "Twilight" sequel, she did appear in other movies like 2010's "Valentine's Day," where she portrayed Felicia's character, alongside Lautner. She also played Rosemary's character in 2014's flick, "The Giver."

The singer will be next seen in the highly anticipated movie, "Amsterdam" starring Christian Bale, Margot Robbie, Anya Taylor-Joy and Zoe Saldana.
