It looks like Jane has a new suspect in Lake’s disappearance in next week’s episode of “Ten Days in the Valley.”

The synopsis for Season 1, episode 5 of the ABC series suggests that Jane (Kyra Sedgwick) has started to have a hunch that the real-life subjects of his cable cop show, “Internal,” maybe the one who took away her daughter, Lake (Abigail Pniowsky).

In the trailer for the episode, Gus (Francois Battiste) — Jane’s confidante and secret source for her show — seemingly suggests Jane to take “Internal” off the air. “The more you talk, the worse it gets. Just shut it down,” Gus tells Jane.

But instead of listening to Gus, Jane takes a different move. According to the synopsis for the episode, Jane decides to change every detail of her show’s series finale as if Lake’s survival solely depends on it.

“We’re gonna make some changes,” Jane tells her writing staff in the promo clip, much to their dismay.

In the series premiere, Gus called out Jane for not spinning any of the factual intel he has given her for “Internal,” so it won’t be surprising if any of the real-life subjects of the TV series decides to pressure Jane to take the show off the air.

“I read the latest draft. It’s the Casita story. It’s practically word for word,” Gus told Jane in episode 1. “You barely changed their names.”

“Well, that’s what I do,” Jane replies. “I take the stuff that people give me and I spin it into something. It may not be gold, but it certainly is something.”

“You didn’t spin it,” Gus said. “It’s all true. It’s everything I told you off the record, narcotics detectives, taxing drug dealers, holding up casitas, all the moves, all the plays. You’re basically making another documentary.”

Elsewhere in the next episode, a guilt-stricken Pete (Kick Gurry) inadvertently pushes Tom (Josh Randall) toward writing a career-making story.

As revealed in the Season 1, episode 4, Tom is a journalist, who recently got fired from a newspaper company. But his wife Ali (Erika Christensen) convinced an old friend of hers to hire Tom into the online news site she works in. While it’s unclear what this career-making story is, it’s likely that it’s going to be one of Tom’s first articles in his new job.

“Ten Days in the Valley” Season 1, episode 5, titled “Day 5: Back To Ones,” airs on Sunday, Oct. 29 at 10 p.m. EDT on ABC.
