A video of a man in Australia fighting away an aggressive crocodile from his front yard using just a frying pan in his hand has gone viral on social media.

The video of the incident that happened in Darwin, Northern Territory of Australia, was shared on the Facebook page of Airborne Solutions Helicopter Tours on Monday.

The terrifying footage shows the owner of Goat Island pub, Kai Hansen, also known by the name King Kai, shooing away the animal that charged toward him, Indian Express reported.

"Goat Island isn’t your average pub and King Kai’s not your average publican - you just never know what he’ll serve up next!" the caption of the video read. The footage was captured by Blake Leigh-Smith, who heads Airborne Solutions, Hindustan Times reported.

The video begins by showing the crocodile approaching Hansen with an open snout, ready to attack him in the front yard of the pub. Meanwhile, the fearless man reacts quickly, hitting the wild animal on its head multiple times using a frying pan in his hand. The video then shows the crocodile turning away from Hansen and running back to the waterbody.

After the video got widely shared on social media, many viewers praised the pub owner for his bravery. Some viewers also said they were amazed by the unusual choice of weapon used for defense.

"Well I know what I’m taking with me next time I’m out near the water's edge," a viewer wrote. "Gotta learn to carry a frying pan in my weapons arsenal, it looks handy," another said.

Meanwhile, some others criticized the man for hitting the crocodile, saying that it was a cruel way to treat the animal."Don’t agree with getting him to come for food, then hitting him! Dreadful way to treat an animal," a viewer wrote.

"What a disgrace, you should never treat an animal that way. Image if that was a human…… he would have been charged with assault!!!" another said.

However, according to reports, Hansen attacked the crocodile as the animal had previously eaten his pet dog.
