An unheard Beatles song from 1968 debuted at the Liverpool Beatles Museum and will be released to the general public on Thursday. The song was discovered in November in a Birmingham attic.

The song, ‘Radhe Shaam’ was written by broadcaster Suresh Joshi and features George Harrison on the guitar and Ringo Starr on the drums. It was recorded at the Trident Studios in London when Harrison and Starr offered to play for a documentary Joshi was producing, "East meets West." At the time, the Beatles duo was recording "Hey Jude" and had taken a break.

The song also features famous Indian classical musician Aashish Khan, yet Joshi explained why it had never been released. "Time had gone on,” he said. “The Beatles were breaking up and had various problems so no one wanted to [release it]." Nevertheless, he said the COVID-19 lockdown was a "blessing in disguise as we had nothing to do."

The manager of the Liverpool Beatles Museum Paul Parry said the audience of 100 had "loved it."

"It was quite a moment,” he said. “It took you somewhere else."

Despite the song being over five decades old, Joshi said it still has relevance today. "The song itself revolves around the concept that we are all one and that the world is our oyster," he said, "Something that we have all realized during this pandemic."
