  • Prager said he wanted to get infected with COVID-19 to get natural immunity
  • The radio show host listed therapeutics he has been taking throughout the pandemic
  • A CDC study showed that unvaccinated people who had coronavirus are still at risk of reinfection

Dennis Prager, a right-wing radio show host and an avid Trump supporter, boasted about getting COVID-19, adding that he had wanted to get a Covid-infection for some time now.

On his Monday show, the 73-year-old host of “The Dennis Prager Show” announced he tested positive for COVID-19 last week after actively trying to get infected since the beginning of the pandemic.

“I have engaged with strangers, constantly hugging them, taking photos with them knowing that I was making myself very susceptible to getting Covid,” he said.

Prager added that he wanted to get infected as natural immunity was more effective than COVID-19 vaccines.

“[A Covid infection was] what I hoped for the entire time—what I wanted, in the hope I would achieve natural immunity and be taken care of by therapeutics,” he added.

Prager’s remarks contradict recommendations made by various health agencies. It also contradicted an August study posted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that found unvaccinated people who recovered from an earlier COVID-19 infection were still twice as likely to be reinfected than those who had been fully vaccinated after contracting the virus.

The radio show host also listed a cocktail of therapeutics he said he had been taking throughout the pandemic. Many of the therapeutics have not been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for use in preventing or treating COVID-19, including Ivermectin.

Ivermectin is a drug used to deworm livestock. Health officials have warned against using the drug as a treatment option for COVID-19, noting that many have been admitted to hospitals after self-medicating.

Currently available data also has not shown any evidence that Ivermectin is effective against COVID-19, according to the FDA.

Prager is the latest conservative radio show host to spread misinformation about COVID-19 vaccines. In the past three months, at least five right-wing hosts who promoted anti-vaccine views, have died after testing positive for COVID-19.

The most recent death was Bob Enyart, 62, who pushed a debunked claim that the COVID-19 vaccines were made from the cells of aborted fetuses.

“While it is not inherently sinful to take an immorally-developed vaccine, we urge everyone to boycott Pfizer, Moderna and the Johnson to further increase social tension and put pressure on the child killers,” he wrote on his website in August.

Prager said he has been “steadily improving” since he tested positive for COVID-19.
