Trump has faced low approval ratings due to his handling of multiple crises and some voters may vote for Biden to restore stability to the nation. The Harvard-Harris poll shows only 43% of Americans approve of Trump’s presidency, with 57% disapproving.

Trump’s support has weakened as the country faces a surge of coronavirus cases in battleground states such as Texas, Florida and Arizona. Trump has been criticized for downplaying the virus and comparing it to the flu. Trump has also faced backlash over his response to the ongoing protests after the death of 46-year-old African-American George Floyd. Trump has called himself the “law and order president” and threatened to deploy the military to cities to quell unrest.

Trump has touted a strong economy as key to his reelection campaign, but unemployment has surged to double-digits after states closed down non-essential businesses to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

On Tuesday, Biden will hold a virtual fundraising event with former President Barack Obama. Democrats believe Obama could help Biden gather support from youth and minority voters.

Trump held a rally Saturday in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with a weaker-than-expected turnout. Trump will speak at a “Students for Trump” event Tuesday in Arizona.

The presidential election is on Nov. 3.
