• "Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout" had the second-largest debut on Twitch for the year
  • Shroud's return to Twitch also marked a return to the Top 10 Twitch Streamers list
  • Vtubers got a bump from Pokimane doing a Vtubing stream this month

After debuting in August, “Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout” continues to perform well, but it still wasn't able to claim August's biggest debut on Twitch.

“Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout” had the second-largest debut on Twitch for 2020, second only to the launch of “Valorant” in April, The Verge reported. While it didn't get the top spot, it's performance was still good enough to knock another hit game off second place, namely “Animal Crossing: New Horizons.”

As noted previously, “Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout” sold 7 million copies on Steam on top of being the most downloaded game ever on PlayStation Plus.

Although social party game “Among Us” launched back in 2018, it has climbed up the Twitch charts for the last month, up a full 650%. That was good enough to place 11th on the most popular categories on Twitch, just below “Minecraft.”

In the data gathered by StreamElements and’s monthly report, Twitch and Facebook Gaming are also continuing to grow. In August, Twitch posted its first month-over-month rise since April — 1.47 billion hours watched, compared to 1.42 billion in April. That is up a full 57% year-over-year.

As for Facebook Gaming, about two months after Mixer was shutdown and its users were asked to move to the former, the platform has posted 346 million hours watched in August. That’s a million more than from the previous month. That is up a full 179% year-over-year.

In other news, cooking shows are gaining popularity on Twitch, and the Food & Drink category on the site is up 96% year-over-year. Vtubers (a.k.a. virtual YouTubers) got a bump from Imane “Pokimane” Anys doing a vtubing stream earlier this month.

Canadian Félix “xQcOW” Lengyel is the most popular streamer on Twitch for the second month in a row. Brazilian CS:GO player Alexandre “gAuLeS” Borba, Nick “NickMercs” Kolcheff, and Timothy “TimTheTatman” Betar round out the top four.

However, don’t be surprised if a familiar name soon jumps over all of them for the top spot. With the return of Michael “Shroud” Grzesiek to Twitch after Mixer folded, he also promptly returned to the Top 10 Twitch Streamers for the month based on hours watched.
