  • Elliot Page shared a first-look photo of “The Umbrella Academy” Season 3
  • The image he shared showed his character rocking a different hairstyle
  • Page confirmed that his character would come out as transgender in the new season

Elliot Page just shared the first look at the upcoming season of “The Umbrella Academy,” featuring what seemed to be a big change to his character’s storyline.

On Tuesday, the Hollywood actor, 35, took to Twitter to share a still frame from Season 3 showing his character, Vanya Hargreeves, looking a bit different from the previous seasons.

Vanya seemed to have ditched her usual hairstyle from the previous seasons. Without explaining everything in detail, Page confirmed that his character would come out as trans in the upcoming installment by introducing Vanya’s new identity to the fans.

“Meet Viktor Hargreeves,” he wrote in the caption.

The official Netflix account quickly responded to Page’s post by welcoming Viktor.

“Welcome to the family, Viktor — we’re so happy you’re here,” the streaming giant commented on the actor’s tweet.

The show’s Twitter account also commented on Page’s post, saying, “We love you, Viktor.”

Meanwhile, fans were undecided of it was a good thing that Page’s real-life transition would be depicted on the show. Some said they were happy about it, while others expressed that they would no longer be watching the series.

“Viktor, love of my life. Let’s goooo!!!! [red heart emojis],” one wrote.

“Can’t wait. So happy,” another stated.

“Ruined the show omg,” a different netizen opined.

“I won’t be seeing it anymore,” a fourth user added.

Page came out as transgender in December 2020 and changed his original name “Ellen” to “Elliot.” At the time, Netflix confirmed that he would continue to star on the show. At the same time, insiders told Variety that there were no plans to change his character’s gender.

When Netflix teased the third season of the series earlier this month, Page’s character was still referred to as Vanya. Hence, the actor’s tweet was the first announcement of his character’s transition on “The Umbrella Academy.”

Aside from Page, the show also stars Tom Hopper, Aidan Gallagher, David Castañeda, Robert Sheehan, Emmy Raver-Lampman, Genesis Rodriguez, Justin H. Min, Colm Feore, Ritu Arya, Justin Cornwell, Britne Oldford, Jake Epstein, Cazzie David and Javon “Wanna” Walton.

Executive produced by Steve Blackman, Jeff F. King, Mike Richardson, Keith Goldberg and Jeremy Webb, “The Umbrella Academy” Season 3 will hit Netflix on June 22, as per Deadline.
