It’s finally here -- episode 17 of “The Vampire Diaries” is airing Thursday night, and fans of the CW drama won’t want to miss it. “Rescue Me” is sure to be fraught with doppelganger drama, a chilling new villain and … a broken bed?

Thanks to two sneak-peek videos released by The CW, viewers can see that despite Damon and Elena’s steamy hookup at the end of episode 16, the couple has a long road ahead if they want to repair their relationship. And in usual Delena fashion, the pair will make things as difficult (and painfully awkward) as possible.

The first video shows Damon and Elena sitting at Jeremy’s school waiting for a parent-teacher meeting. Why, you may ask? Elena left Damon in charge of Jeremy when she went to college, and the eldest Salvatore is using that to his advantage to win his lady love back.

“I’ve had this on my calendar for months,” he sassily tells his ex.

“Really?” Elena asks, suspicious of his attendance. “So no other reason?”

“Why? Is there something else you want to talk about,” Damon flirts back. “Oh come on, don’t pretend like you’re still tingly from this morning.”

“Can we just focus on Jeremy, please,” Elena counters, not ready to have a discussion about their sex life while waiting to meet her brother’s teacher.

Damon stops talking about their relationship, but decides to bring up another romance – Jeremy and Bonnie’s! It turns out that Damon spotted Jeremy sharing a drink with Liv at The Grill earlier that morning. And despite Elena refusing to believe that Jeremy would cheat on her best friend Bonnie, Damon helpfully reminds her that he previously cheated on Bonnie with a ghost.

“I mean, the only thing that was missing was a sappy love song and a pottery wheel,” Damon tells Elena.

The second sneak-peek video from “Rescue Me” previews Damon hanging out at The Grill with Matt and Tyler, confiding to them about his latest breakup with Elena. But Damon doesn’t like the answers they are giving him.

“If you want advice, why don’t you just talk to Stefan?” Matt tells him. But Damon says it’s not that easy.

“It’s difficult to explain to your brother that you broke up with the former lover of his life,” Damon explains. “And then broke the bed.”

“Whoa, T.M.I.,” Tyler warns him.

As we previously reported, episode 17 will find the gang split up and dealing with different problems that will ultimately end up hurting them as a whole. Caroline and Enzo will be taking a road trip to Atlanta to capture and kill Stefan’s EMT doppelganger; Elena will learn some upsetting news about Jeremy’s personal life thanks to a troubling parent-teacher conference; Bonnie will discover some “unsettling” information about Luke and Liv’s family history; Jeremy will get a peek at Liv’s “considerable power;” and the mysterious Traveler leader (and new big villain) Markos will be arriving in town.
