  • A video captured a white man harassing a group of teens inside a gated community
  • One of the teens was black, whose grandfather was a homeowner
  •  He said that he would have them arrested because they did not deserve to be there

A video that has since gone viral shows three girls, including a black teenager, being threatened by a white man with arrest because they did not deserve to be there in the gated complex. The confrontation occurred Sunday in the Grand Isles Complex in Wellington, one of the affluent villages in Palm Beach County in Florida.

Captured On Video

The girls, along with two boys, were riding in a golf cart and wandering through the community when the white man, who remains unidentified, began tailgating them in his Toyota, the Palm Beach Post reports. After a while, they all alighted from the golf cart, and Breonna Nelson-Hicks, a black teen, and her two white friends started walking toward the home of Breonna in the community.

As they neared her home, the white man, who had come out of his car, told them in a loud voice that the teens do not belong in the development. That was when Breonna and her friends started filming the encounter. The white man also asked for their names and where they live, to which the girls responded with the question, “Why would we tell you any of this?”

Threatened To Have Them Arrested

When he saw the girls would not answer any of his questions, he told them he is going to call the gate and have the teens arrested because they do not deserve to be there. One of the girls was heard wondering what they did wrong, apparently in reference to the man’s threat. At this point, Breonna asked the white man if there is any problem because if there is, she is going to get her grandfather. “Bring him out right now!” the man replied.

Breonna then went inside the house to get her grandfather while a woman’s voice can be heard telling the teens to stop arguing with the man because it is not worth it. The unidentified man, however, continued with his tirade and told the girls they have been illegally driving.

Homeowner Comes Out

At this time, Mr. Nelson, the grandfather of Breonna, came out and asked the man not to stick his hand out. He also asked him if he threatened a child. The unidentified white man can be heard on the video saying, “I did not.”

Both the man and Nelson filed complaints with the Sheriff’s Office in Palm Beach County. While Palm Beach Post was able to obtain a copy of the report, it did not include the name of the unidentified man because of an exemption rule for 911 callers or those who request for emergency services.
