KEY POINTS

  • There will be an “epic” battle in “The Walking Dead” Season 10 finale

  • Norman Reedus opened up about how hard the cast and crew worked

  • Maggie will return in the upcoming episode

“The Walking Dead” Season 10, episode 16 was postponed because of the coronavirus lockdown, but it promises to be an action-packed episode. The finale was supposed to show the last battle between the heroes and the Whisperers horde led by Beta (Ryan Hurst).

The events on the show have already hinted at the eventual battle between the two sides. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Norman Reedus, who plays Daryl Dixon, teased that the battle in the finale episode is going to be “epic.” The actor compared the scale of the action sequences to the big budget HBO fantasy series “Game of Thrones.”

“It’s like a full-on ‘Game of Thrones’ super war battle,” Reedus said.

Filming the massive finale episode was also not easy. Reedus said that the cast and crew had to “dig deep” and they all had to really push themselves to film the “exhausting” episode.

“There were huge battle scenes until the wee hours of the morning consistently, and it looks so grand on an epic scale,” Reedus said about “The Walking Dead” Season 10, episode 16. He also said the battle scenes in the finale are “legendary.”

Showrunner Angela Kang is also eagerly waiting for the fans to watch the action sequences in the finale. She described the conflict with the Whisperers as “epic” in a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly.

One important aspect of the upcoming episode is that it will mark the return of Maggie Green (Lauren Cohan). According to Screen Rant, the character was supposed to return in Season 11, but the producers later decided to bring up her return to the upcoming Season 10 finale episode. Cohan left in Season 9 reportedly because of a pay dispute. It remains to be seen if she will now be back as a regular or if her character will get killed off soon after her return.

Filming of the finale was finished back in November 2019, but the postproduction process could not be completed in time before the coronavirus lockdown began. The remaining work should be completed quickly after the lockdown ends.

“The Walking Dead” Season 10, episode 16 will air as a special episode sometime later in 2020.
