Saturday Night Live Trump Hillary
Alec Baldwin and Kate McKinnon as Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton were just one of the many great “SNL” sketches this year. Will Heath/NBC

Thanks to appearances from Alec Baldwin, Larry David, Melissa McCarthy, Tom Hanks and more, “Saturday Night Live” has enjoyed its best season in over 20 years. With tons of great episodes and skits during the season, here are the best sketches from Season 42.

16. Posters

While “SNL” shined this year with its political sketches, there were still some great skits that involved no real public figures, like this one starring Emma Stone.

15. Celebrity Family Feud: Time Travel Edition

Celebrity Family Feud sketches are always just a way for the cast members to show off their impressions, but with Jimmy Fallon pulling double duty as two different eras of John Travolta and Harry Styles as a hilarious Mick Jagger, this was one of the best Family Feud sketches the show has done.

14. Birthday Clown

Every sketch from the Louis C.K.-hosted episode could have landed on this list, but the Birthday Clown skit was one of the better moments thanks to Bobby Moynihan as the clown.

13. A Girl’s Halloween

Anytime you can get Vanessa Bayer, Cecily Strong and Aidy Bryant together in a sketch, you know it’s going to be good. The skit perfectly captures a girl’s night gone wrong because of alcohol.

12. Dry Fridays

The Dry Fridays sketch may not exactly be one of the most memorable ones from Season 42, but if you go back and watch it, you’ll realize how funny and outrageous it really was. Credit also goes to Mikey Day for his “pop that beanie” line.

11. Pitch Meeting

Following the Super Bowl, the series lampooned the socially conscious commercials that were all over the air.

10. Easter Message From Sean Spicer

Melissa McCarthy's impressions of Sean Spicer have gotten more ridiculous as the season went on, but the actress went full on crazy when she dressed up as the Easter bunny.

9. Hillary Actually

With Hillary Clinton having already lost the election, “SNL” found a great way to keep her in the conversation and featured Kate McKinnon in this hilarious parody of “Love Actually.”

8. Trump People’s Court

While Alec Baldwin’s best Trump skits came during cold opens, “People’s Court” sketch was one of the best of the season.

7. Sean Spicer Press Conference Cold Open

Melissa McCarthy made a number of appearances on “SNL” as White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer, but her best one included a box of props and Moana doll.

6. Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton Debate Cold Open

There were tons of great Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton skits this season, but it was this debate that was Alec Baldwin’s best work as Trump. From his pronunciation of “China” to his constant sniffles, Baldwin was at his best.

5. Jake Tapper

In what may have been the most controversial sketch of the year, “Saturday Night Live” threw Jake Tapper (Beck Bennett) and Kellyanne Conway (Kate McKinnon) into a scene from “Fatal Attraction.”

4. Thank You, Scott

“Saturday Night Live” excellently tackled slacktivism with its Thank You, Scott sketch, leading many us to realize that we’re Scott.

3. Girl At A Bar

Girl at a Bar could have easily been the best skit of the year if it wasn’t for Tom Hanks’ episode but it still has a place in the top five thanks to how accurate it was.

2. Haunted Elevator (Ft. David S. Pumpkins)

At first, the Haunted Elevator sketch seemed like it wasn’t going to be anything special but then viewers were presented to David Pumpkins and his two dancing skeletons and a new character became part of the “SNL” legacy.

1. Black Jeopardy (With Tom Hanks)

No sketch better captures the greatness of Season 42 than the Black Jeopardy skit featuring Tom Hanks. The writing of “SNL” was as sharp as it’s ever been, showing us that the political concerns of white Trump supporters were no different than those of African Americans.
