Car splits in Half after crashing into a tree

A dramatic video that surfaced showed the exact moment a car slammed into a tree on Henderson Avenue in Randall Manor, New York.

The video clip, shared on YouTube, showed the speeding car crashing into a tree with its engine and two front wheels being torn away from the rest of the vehicle.

According to reports, two people were injured during the crash that took place on Staten Island on Monday afternoon.

A 21-year-old man, who remains unidentified, was reportedly ejected from the car and suffered life-threatening injuries. He is currently admitted to Richmond University Medical Center in West New Brighton, a neighborhood in Staten Island, New York.

Another 20-year-old who was identified as the driver also suffered injuries, but is now said to be in a better condition.

According to a report in the Staten Island Advance, New York City Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services said the crash was reported at 1:20 p.m. local time.

A Henderson Avenue resident, at the scene, called 911 and said: "I heard a boom and called the police." Henderson Avenue was closed to traffic, near the site of the crash, to accommodate the emergency response.

New York Police Department (NYPD) also weighed in on the incident and said speed was a likely factor behind the crash. As of now, the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad are investigating the incident.
