Wendy Williams has opened up about her sexual assault for the first time ahead of the release of her Lifetime biopic.

During a panel to promote “Wendy Williams: The Movie” Tuesday, Williams gave an account of an alleged date rape that occurred early in her career, revealing that late R&B singer Sherrick was the rapist, People reported.

"He mesmerized me with his twinkling eyes," she told reporters of the incident, which will also be covered by her upcoming biopic. "He flipped the interview around to where he was interviewing me — I was just gaga over this man and he asked me to go to an opening party, an album release party, with him that night."

“And before the party, I was date raped by him." she continued.

The talk show host further said that she was also date raped once when she was in college. Williams attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts, between 1982 and 1986.

"Those types of things happen to girls all the time, and they've been happening a lot, to a lot of our mothers, grandmothers, great-great-grandmothers and their great-great-grandmothers, too," Williams said.

Sherrick, whose real name was F. Lamotte Smith, died in 1999 at 41 of unknown causes after a decade of struggle with substance abuse, New York Daily News reported. His song "Just Call" was his most popular track and peaked at no. 8 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks chart. The singer was survived by his wife, Lynne Conner-Smith, and three children, Kiriandra, Paris and Chance Smith.

Executive produced by the talk show host, “Wendy Williams: The Movie” will showcase the highs and lows she has experienced and give a raw glimpse into her life. Aside from the story of her sexual assault, the movie will cover her rise to fame in the entertainment industry, her struggle with substance abuse and her relationship with ex-husband Kevin Hunter.

"The Oval" star Ciera Payton and "Empire" actor Morocco Omari will portray Williams and Hunter, respectively, in the feature.

The exes, who got married in 1997, parted ways 21 years later in 2019 after Hunter had a child with his mistress. Although their divorce was painful, Williams said that she has "no regrets."

"The life that I'm living right now is my best life, and I have no guilt about saying that. I don't regret meeting Kevin, I don't regret falling in love, I don't regret staying with him for all 25 years, 21 of them married," the host said. "I like who I am, so I have no regrets."

“Wendy Williams: The Movie” is set to premiere on Jan. 30 at 8 p.m. EST on Lifetime.
