The latest in a long line of challenges to hit social media – the ALS Ice Bucket and Mannequin challenges – boyfriends and girlfriends are attempting to cross over the gender gap when it comes to clothes in the “Switch It Up” Challenge, MediaTakeOut reported Tuesday. However, it's also facing some serious backlash on Twitter.

The challenge is quite simple. Couples first show before pictures with men dressed in their garb and women in theirs, and then an after picture shows the switch.

It’s yet to pick up the same viral steam like the ice bucket and mannequin challenges and “Switch It Up” also has Twitter users eviscerating those who have already taken part. Many are questioning the sexuality of the participating men.

Others, like this You Tube user, described it as “satanic” and “disgusting” while using very strong expletives.

The direct origins of the challenge are unknown, but couples switching clothes isn’t really new. In April 2015, Complex put together a video of couples doing the same thing after breaking down each’s styles.

When it comes to how long the challenge will stick around or if it will gain as much acclaim and notoriety as the ice bucket and mannequin challenges is unknown. Part of the reason each of those crazes even got off the ground was the participation of celebrities and athletes alike, with NBA stars like LeBron James and his Cleveland Cavalier mates teaming up with First Lady Michelle Obama in the Oval Office earlier this year.
