Prince Philip made a savage remark about Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew’s home in the past.

Lifestyle writer Karen Dolby revealed in her book “The Wicked Wit of Queen Elizabeth II” the witty humor of Queen Elizabeth II. According to her, Her Majesty once joked that a member of the Firm should have Ferguson’s warmth, Mark ‘Foggy’ Philipps’ steadfastness and Princess Michael of Kent’s poise. She also added that Queen Elizabeth II would always tease her daughter-in-law, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, as the “perfect royal.”

While the Queen was impressed with Ferguson’s warmth, her husband, Prince Philip, always had issues with the Duchess of York. Prince Andrew and Ferguson built a new home after their royal wedding. When it was completed in 1990, the 97-year-old senior royal wasn’t pleased with it.

According to Dolby, Prince Philip claimed that the house “looked like a tart's bedroom.” Queen Mother tried to be diplomatic about the house and often referred to it jokingly as “South York” — after the ranch in the soap opera “Dallas.”

“If you’d spent most of your life on a warship you would not know about taste,” Queen Mother reportedly said.

From the start, Prince Philip didn’t like Ferguson for Prince Andrew. According to Jessica Jayne in her book “Prince Andrew: The War Hero from Buckingham Palace,” Prince Philip preferred businesswoman Amanda Staveley for his son. The Duke of Edinburgh thought that Staveley was the ideal choice to be the Duchess of York.

Unfortunately, Staveley didn’t agree with the idea. She declined because she didn’t want to sacrifice her independence, which one has to concede after joining the royal fold.

Ferguson also made a huge mistake when she was photographed with her financial advisor, John Bryan, sucking her toes. Even if the Queen and Prince Andrew had already forgiven her, Prince Philip still resents Ferguson. In fact, he reportedly couldn’t bear to be in the same room as Ferguson.

Last summer, Prince Philip and Ferguson were caught in a sticky situation when both visited Queen Elizabeth II in Balmoral. The Duchess of York was forced to leave earlier when she learned that Prince Philip was on his way to visit the monarch.

However, Prince Philip and Ferguson agreed to be civil when they attended Princess Eugenie’s royal wedding. Ferguson blamed herself for her strained relationship with her former father-in-law.
