A pastor from Indianapolis whose first wife was murdered in a case of robbery and home invasion in 2015 has now remarried.

The founder of Resonate Church, Davey Blackburn married Kristi Monroy at Laurel Hall in Indianapolis Sunday.

Blackburn grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. He attended the Tuscaloosa County High School and later transferred to the Shades Valley High School in Birmingham because his father was then a pastor at Brookview Wesleyan Church in Birmingham.

Quoting a verse from the Bible, Blackburn took to social media channels, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook to let the world know about his second marriage.

According to various reports, Blackburn met Monroy first at the gym and later at the church. He proposed to her on Nov. 8 and announced their engagement on his blog.

According to a report by Fox 59, the pastor’s first wife, late Amanda was shot dead after three men barged into her house through a door that was left unlocked after Blackburn left for work on Nov. 10, 2015. 28-year-old Amanda was at home with the couple's then 15-month-old son, Weston. Amanda was 12 weeks pregnant at the time. Their son Weston was not hurt as he was in another room. The couple married in 2008 and moved to Indianapolis in 2012.

According to Blackburn's blog, the couple moved to Indianapolis to start a church.

Blackburn wrote about his life with his first wife Amanda. He also described his life after her tragic death and then about meeting his new wife Monroy in a lengthy blog post titled "I just popped the question… & she said yes!"

"Lord, if you ever bring me another wife here’s what I ask for, that she loves you more than she loves me, that she loves me, that she loves Weston, and that she loves Amanda," the pastor wrote.

"I realize for many people this may seem a bit soon and trust me, it did to me as well," he added.

According to information in the blog, Monroy has a daughter, Natalia, from her previous marriage. Blackburn in the blog post said: "Kristi has quickly became like a mother to Weston and Natalia, an older sister. And I have quickly fallen in love with both of them." The new family will now have four members — Blackburn, his son Weston, Monroy and her daughter Natalia.

21-year-old Jalen Watson, 18-year-old Larry Taylor, and 24-year-old Diano Gordon were charged with murder. In October this year, Watson pleaded guilty to one count of robbery and two counts of burglary. His charge for murder was dropped as part of a plea deal, according to Fox59.
